Introduction to Refugees: Asylum and Resettlement - taster session
Tuesday 11th August, 11am – 12pm on Zoom
This Asylum Matters introductory session explores the key concepts around asylum and resettlement. You’ll learn about important definitions, rights and entitlements, and routes that people take to seek safety in the UK.
Introduction to Working with Interpreters - taster session
Thursday 13th August, 10 – 11am on Zoom
This practical session introduces core principles for communicating effectively through spoken language interpreters. You’ll take part in group activities and reflect on challenges that can arise when working with interpreters.
After an asylum decision: positive and negative decisions – taster session
Thursday 18th August, 11am - 12pm on Zoom
This new session looks at what happens after an asylum decision. We’ll explore how rights and entitlements change following a positive or negative decision, and next steps for those who receive a refusal.
Note: this session does not cover the asylum process itself. If you are unfamiliar with the process, please consider attending the Introduction to Refugees: Asylum and Resettlement session first.
