Dear ,

80% of the British public want a well managed, fair and compassionate asylum system. The louder our voice becomes, the harder it will be for the next government to ignore.

Now we're just days away from the General Election, we need to send a message to the new government that we the people reject the hostility and division that has become commonplace. It’s time for something better.

Please spread the word by forwarding this email to five friends. To get daily updates, follow our X/Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn.

This Refugee Week was bigger and better than ever. Tens of thousands of you from across the City of Sanctuary networks got involved, with some big names annoucing their awards, including the Open University, now a University of Sanctuary. Follow our X/Twitter for all our Refugee Week coverage.

"You call me refugee". A School of Sanctuary in Cardiff just shared this poem with us – and it has blown us away.

There are now well over 450 awarded Schools of Sanctuary. This work truly changes lives. If you can, please chip into our fundraiser.

Six steps towards migrant justice
The rights of people who move are under attack. Our media and our politicians want to make us forget one simple truth: that people move. We always have and always will. And we should be welcomed and supported when we do. Read the six steps here.

Post-Election resources
In readiness for lots of new MPs being elected next week, we have prepared some template letters for 1) City of Sanctuary groups 2) volunteers 3) people working at Sanctuary Awarded orgs/institutions.

These template letters are intended as an initial introduction to these new/returning MPs, explaining your work and motivations. This is the first step in building a meaningful relationship with your MP, so don't demand/expect too much from this first reach out, rather use it as an opportunity to showcase how widespread the movement of welcome is within your community. This is about normalising compassion and encouraging your MP to follow suit.

More post-election resources to follow soon.
