North West Regional Meeting Join us on 20th May for this op[ortunty opportunity for groups across the North West to meet, share ideas and build stronger regional ties. We will have a presentation from Right to Remain, giving us an introduction to their Right to Remain Toolkit – a very useful online guide to the UK immigration and asylum system. Documentary: First Days - contributor call-out First Days is a documentary looking at the first day of school for first-generation migrants to the UK. The film intends to showcase the diverse narratives with the migrant community. The documentary makers are looking for people willing to share their stories about starting school - there are no age restrictions for participation. Scholarship for Teachers of English as a Second Language to Refugees A.S. Hornby Educational Trust is inviting applications from experienced teachers of English who are now working with refugee communities in the UK. The successful applicant will join a group of Hornby scholars from a range of different countries to study on a one-year Masters in TESOL at the University of Exeter in the academic year 2024/25. Report: Keys to the City 2024: Ending refugee homelessness in London Refugee Council’s new report examines the growing homelessness crisis amongst recognised refugees. This systemic failure is down to the process refugees face while transitioning through the so-called ‘move-on’ period is dysfunctional by design, and discriminatory in delivery.

Oxford University research: helping refugee parents with their children's emotional wellbeing Emotional difficulties are particularly common among refugee and asylum-seeking children. Through interviews, this study aims to gather insights from professionals working with asylum-seeking and refugee families to explore their perspectives of the mental health and well-being of children during the resettlement process and how parents can best be supported. Each placement is different, and the length of hosting can vary from a few nights to several months and anything in between.
